In A Fair And Just World, Even Saddam Hussein Has Rights

The International Committee of the Red Cross says the USA must either charge Saddam or free him from custody by June 30. If not, both the US and the new Iraqi government will be contravening international law.

A spokeswoman for the ICRC said: 'The United States defines Saddam Hussein as a prisoner of war. At the end of an occupation PoWs have to be released provided they have no penal charges against them.'"

Hmmn. No doubt Karl Rove, the White House spin-meister-in-chief, has his own agenda for trying Saddam, with the best TV pictures scheduled for the run-up to November.
