People Like YOU?

I posted the following comment today at Jeff Jarvis's blog after another frustrating to-and-fro with yet another Bush apologist who gets his "news" from sites like Little Green Footballs and the like. I am going to re-post it here, coz I think I will be using it again. The debate this time was about whether the USA is intentionally targetting journos in Iraq...

The difference between people like you and people like me is that people like you willingly believe everything the Bush administration and their network of shrills say, while I do not believe a damn thing they say.

Consider this. Even if it could be PROVED BEYOND DOUBT that the US is killing journos (and I am not saying it can be at this stage) it wouldn't matter a damn to people like you. Right??? You would just find some means of justifying it, wouldn't you? Just as happened with Abu Ghraib, just as happened with Guantanamo, just as has happened again and again under Bush.

A journalist was killed? Oh, he/she deserved it! He/she was a Communist! He/she faked /his/her own capture! She was just a meddling foreigner anyway! Whatever... as long as it makes you feel OK about it.

Do you believe Torture is OK SOMETIMES?????

Of course you do!

Do you believe CIA "Rendering" of terror suspects to places like Uzbekistan, where they are BOILED ALIVE, is OK?????

Of course you do!

Do you believe imprisoning people for 3 years or more without charge is OK?????

Of course you do!

Time was when Eason Jordan's remarks would have generated an intelligent debate on whether the US really is targetting journos or not. Nowadays such "off-message" remarks just generate an hysterical mob frenzy from PEOPLE LIKE YOU.

People like you think it is OK to decimate whole countries, shred international treaties and destroy thousands of innocent lives, if only it will make you a little less afraid to drive downtown for a McBurger on a Saturday night.

People like you protest concern for those suffering oppression in the Middle East, but truth is, deep down in the shrivelled pit of your greedy little souls, you really don't give a shit about them, do you?

After all, they are not even AMERICAN!
