A Brooklyn courthouse yesterday witnessed the first legal challenge to the Bush administration's policy of 'extraordinary rendition'. The case involves Canadian Maher Arar, who was detained in the USA then whisked off to face a year of torture in Syria.

A hideous case and a horrific glimpse of the evil that lurks in the hearts of the criminals who have taken over my country. Even some of their "supporters" are starting to see through their bullshit.

I found this story relatively encouraging. And these days we have to take our encouragement where we find it -- and savour every last morsel, too.

Sad but true, my friend -- but we shall never surrender. And some of the deluded fools who support these monsters are starting to see the light. Let's hope enough of them see it before it goes out entirely.
