Israel's Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, did not confirm any raid but said Israel hit everywhere to stop terror.
"That was true in the north," said Mr Olmert, "and it was true in the south ... Those who need to know, know there is no place where Israel cannot operate."
Giving a speech in the coastal town of Herzliya, the outgoing prime minister said: "We operate in many places near and far, and carry out strikes in a manner that strengthens our deterrence."

What I don't see in that BBC story is any question about whether there was U.S. cooperation. What's the likelihood that Israeli planes could fly all the way from their territory and back without landing? My memory is hazy, but didn't the Israelis get outside assistance with their Entebbe raid in the 1970s? What I suspect is that this latest was all worked out with U.S. help for landing strips, refueling, intell, etc. It's more indication that the two militaries are joined at the hip in a worldwide "death from the air" alliance. "It doesn't matter where you are -- if Amerisraelica wants to kill you, we will."

So the Israelis do the USAs dirty work, hitting Iranian boats and fighting the good war on "terror" in Sudan. It's all the same objective, surely?
We're still the good guys, right?
Yeah, we're the good guys! Those other guys, they set off suicide bombs in crowded marketplaces and kill people indiscriminately! We drop precision-guided munitions on hard targets to take out those international terrorists. And we always apologise for the collateral damage. Those other guys cut off peoples' heads and put videotapes of it on YouTube. We use enhanced interrogation techniques where sometimes mistakes are made and the CIA destroys the videotapes...
Ah, what's the point? This has gone on beyond snark, beyond any black-humoured laughing past the graveyard. And it doesn't stop. Why, right now I reckon there are venal militaristic torturers who are beating the shit out of people and taping it, just so the evidence will come out on Obama's watch, daring him to crack down, safe in the knowledge that he won't, and then he'll be dragged into complicity with their further atrocities. And my bet is that he won't fight too hard against being dragged into doing what needs to be done.
