Yes, far better to let a fake election result stand, and prop up a leader who wins by cheating, with a substantial minority of people angrily claiming it was stolen, than to have a "delegitimised" government. Where have I seen this movie before? I think it ended badly...

And this is the best the West can get after eight years of spending, fighting and dying. It's on the same time trajectory as Vietnam was, though.
