The David Letterman show this week featured footage of a very bored 12-year-old standing behind Bush on a podium while Bush was making a speech.
CNN claimed the White House assured them the tape was a fake. Letterman accused CNN of lying.
The footage, however, was real. Tyler Crotty was tired because his father, Rich Crotty (chairman of the Orange County, Florida, Republican party, and a major donor to the president's re-election campaign), had got him out of bed early to travel to the speech and he had been standing on stage a minimum of 3 hours.
So was CNN lying? Or did the White House lie to CNN? As usual, we will never know...
