A Blow To Right-Wing Conspiracy Theorists

Bush started the stupidity by saying "You are either for us or against us." Following his lead, the pro-war US right-wing crusaders like to throw everyone who is against them into the same pigeon-hole. If you do not support the war in Iraq:

a. You wish Saddam was still in power.
b. You support terrorists.
c. You support all Middle East dictators.
d. You support every other dictator in the world.
e. You support Communism.
f. You support ... etc, etc, etc.

The result is that anyone who criticizes the war has to defend themselves against all these accusations before any serious debate can even begin. By that time, it is too late (although the warmongers never actually wanted serious debate to begin with). If you don't believe me, go an post an anti-war comment at Iraq The Model.

The United Nations, which staunchly opposed the war, is therefore a favourite target of these warmongers. The UN opposed the war, therefore they are guilty of a., b., c., d., e., etc.

But now Osama bin Laden appears to have put a bounty on the head of UN leader Kofi Annan, as well as the heads of Paul Bremer and others. According to CNN (see, I do read even right-wing, warmongering CNN sometimes!):

'The message denounces U.N. efforts, led by Brahimi, to organize the transfer of power from the coalition provisional authority to an interim Iraqi government June 30, and calls the United Nations "a Zionists' tool." '

So what do the rightwing conspiracy theorists say to that?

I have consistently argued that the UN should have been responsible for the removal of Saddam, that the US troops should leave now and the UN should help Iraqis maintain peace until they can re-establish their country. I oppose terrorism, bin Laden and all other forms of violence, including US military (and - ahem! - private contractor) violence. I don't like being pigeon-holed by aggressive, dim-witted fools.
