Disney Scared To Criticize Bush

More news on those who wish to ban freedom of speech, from the Washington Post:

"Filmmaker Michael Moore says he is scrambling to find a distributor for his new documentary, "Fahrenheit 9/11," after the Walt Disney Co. ordered its Miramax Films subsidiary not to place the movie in theaters this summer.

As with other Moore projects, the film, which will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in France next week, is likely to provoke controversy. It is highly critical of the Bush administration's efforts against terrorism and also draws connections between the extended Bush family and wealthy Saudis, including Osama bin Laden and his kin.

Moore, the filmmaker behind the Oscar-winning "Bowling for Columbine" and the author of the best-selling book "Dude, Where's My Country?," charged Wednesday that Disney chief executive Michael Eisner decided to pull the film from release because it was too politically sensitive and would have endangered Disney's tax breaks for its theme parks in Florida, where the president's brother Jeb is governor.

Miramax, which bankrolled the film, is owned by Disney and distributes its movies through Disney's Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group."
