Bush maintains Iraq WMD LIES:

"'I know that Saddam Hussein was a threat. He was a threat to the neighbourhood, he was a threat to the people of Iraq, he harboured terrorists,' Mr Bush told reporters yesterday.

That's a lie, and Bush knows it. The only terrorist in Iraq at the time of invasion was an old man called Abu Nidal who had renounced terrorism in favour of politics with the PLO. He was a scruffy old bag of nothing. Saddam's only other connection with terrorists was a PR stunt cash payment to bereaved families of Palestinian suicide bombers. He did not harbour terrorists.

'Saddam Hussein had the intent, he had the capability' to produce WMDs, Mr Bush said.

Another lie. Evidence shows Saddam had no such capability.

'The world is better off without Saddam Hussein in power,' said Bush.

Is it? A destabilized Iraq attracting terrorists like flies, increased support for fanatical Islamic groups, international law trashed and torn, dumped in an Oval Office bin, old alliances and treaties in tatters... Saddam was a cruel tyrant and it is good that he is gone. But is the world really a better place today than when he was in power? Or is that just the final, desperate White House lie?
