Surf's Up

Some interesting Web surfing today. Firstly I discovered that if you search for the words Bush, Blog and Gandhi on either Yahoo or Google, this site ranks #1. Whoo hoo!

I also found a pretty wierd site called Group Hug where people can log anonymous online confessions. This confession caught my attention:

"i hate the american government. unfortunatly its where i live. i'm old enough to vote this year but i don't want to vote for anyone because there's nobody i want to see as president. i don't understand how people can walk around so apathetically and not be in a total revolution with the way things are going. we nearly impeached a president who did nothing wrong for something that wasn't our business, but we allow a facist pig fucker to steal our election, hijack our economy, make money off of the deaths of thousands, and nobody cares.
today i bought a sticker that says BUSH BELONGS BEHIND BARS. i put it on my car. i think he belongs on a crucifix, actually, and allowed to bake in the sun slowly for months.
i live in Texas. i think i'll get shot.
i doubt this will be posted or read, but i'm not sure i care."

It's a sad and serious concern that many young people feel strongly disinclined to vote, even when they hate the government, because they think the whole system stinks. I know about this because I used to be one of them - and in Australia, where I live, voting is compulsory! Which just made me hate it even more!

The USA's situation today is particularly sad, where Democrats criticize Ralph Nader for even daring to run. Truth is, there should be dozens of other candidates with a real chance of success. Two millionaire Skull-and-Bonesmen do not represent the best democracy on earth, you know?
