Bush Denies 'Slow to React' Claims over 9/11 Attack

The Scotsman reviews Bush's latest interview comments, including this gem:

"I have got a lot of explanations to give on what I have done."

Or this one:

"Free countries will be peaceful countries. Free countries are countries that do not export terror.”

Does Bush know anything about Burma? Or Mozambique? Or any countries outside Texas?

What about this old favourite:

“We thought we would find stockpiles, the whole world thought that we would find stockpiles.”

I sure didn't. A few million other anti-war protesters sure didn't.

Bush also reveals what he was thinking during those very long seven minutes, captured by Michael Moore, in the children's classroom:

“It didn’t take me long to figure out that we were at war. It didn’t take me long to develop a plan that we go after al Qaida.”

I've been reading "Bush At War" by Bob Woodward, and one of the most irking things is how stupidly proud this man is. He takes every opportunity to boast. It comes across as hiding an underlying insecurity (or why the need to boast?).

So Bush, in the comfort of that classroom, not only KNEW who was responsible, he also KNEW that the attacks amounted to a declaration of war, and what's more he DEVELOPED A PLAN - that's right, all alone, there in that classroom, without even speaking to anyone - to go after Al Quaeda (even though some of his own people were blaming Iraq and it took days and days before the US public were told who was responsible). It's fair to ask, what was his cunning plan? Invade Iraq and try to grab the oil, alienating the world in the process?

What bothers me most is this - how did the President know it was Al Quaeda? He said he never got the memos, remember? He said he never go the warnings... didn't he??? Like Condi Rice, who said the idea of flying planes into buildings was "unimaginable".

He knew, folks. He knew Al Quaeda were planning something just like 9/11 and he did NOTHING. This is what he was thinking in that classroom:

"Holy shit. They did it. They said they would do it and they did it. I am in deep shit. I am the worst President ever. Will I go to jail for this? Should I stay here in this classroom or make a run for the Mexican border?"
