Remember Jack Idema, the US mercenary caught in Afghanistan who threatened to expose his secretive links to Donald Rumsfeld and the CIA?
He's back in court with his fellow bounty-hunters, complaining that the Afghan National Directorate of Security (NDS) has handed over all his evidence to the US embassy in Kabul.
"In front of the judge is the receipt that the FBI signed. Why did the judge allow the FBI to take evidence from the NDS?" Idema questioned, alleging that 500 pages of documents, 200 videotapes and at least 400 photographs had been seized.
"Now it's at the US embassy where no one is ever going to see it."
Poor Jack... It's hard not to enjoy the delicious irony.
But the corruption of the Afghan court system is a serious indictment of US claims that former Unocal worker Hamed Karzai's government is not just another subservient US puppet regime.
