Bush's USA = Pariah State

El Busho is crowing that he finally got a UN resolution on Iraq:

"Some people said we'd never get one," boasts Bush.

This is despite the fact that the US negotiators had to concede virtually every point to the French, Russians, Chinese and others.

If things start to improve in Iraq, Bush will no doubt take credit. But the truth is that the UN has saved his sorry ass (a decision they may live to regret if it helps him win re-election). At least, in the process, they have helped ensure that Iraqis have at least a chance at genuine "sovereignty".

CBS News reports that there is little love for El Busho in the corridors of the United nations. A dozen interviews reveal that the UN staff "have lost all trust in the Bush administration."

"Before 9/11 there was a feeling that this administration wasn't going the way we would like it to lead us. There was Kyoto, the International Criminal Court, the ABM treaty, the Comprehensive Test Ban treaty, all before, and then the war in Iraq," one official said.

A senior U.N. envoy says: "What George Bush has done is destroyed diplomacy. He has established the rule of force, of military, instead of dealing diplomatically and peacefully.'

So what does this envoy think of the latest resolution?

'Everybody agrees this is a mess in Iraq and the only way out is to compromise. At least, it's a recognition that, hey, we were right.' "
