Reality TV got a healthy dose of reality last night as an Australian Big Brother evictee named Merlin Luck used his 15 minutes of fame to make a silent protest in support of refugees.
The protest is another embarrassment for John Howard's corrupt government, which has defied UN Human Rights directives by instituting a policy of mandatory detention for all refugees, setting up detention centres in neighbouring Pacific island countries and refusing to release refugee children from detention centres (despite proof of psychological trauma and even physical abuse).
Good on you, Merlin. Magic!
