Who Rules Britannia? Rupert Murdoch, Apparently

From a new Downing Street Whistleblower:
"Mr Price, a former deputy head of Downing Street communications, claims that Mr Blair promised Rupert Murdoch, the media mogul, that the Government would not change its policy on Europe without telling him first."
It's important to understand this story in relation to the widely reported (well, in the blogosphere anyway) failures of the mainstream media to take a truly critical stance on US, British and Australian government policies.

Murdoch, owner of FAUX News and dozens of other popular media outlets, has become a king-maker in all three countries. At election time, all the major parties eagerly court his favour. Now these new revelations confirm what many have long suspected - in exchange for political support, Murdoch demands (and gets) preferential access to news content.

Whatever may have gone before, I've often wondered why Murdoch et al still do not choose to seriously and publicly blow the whistle on the manifold failures of Bush, Blair and Howard. Imagine the headlines: IRAQ HAD NO WMDS! BUSH LIED! HEADS MUST ROLL! It would certainly make compelling news for many, many months... And that equals money, which is after all the bottom line for these people.

But obviously, if Murdoch himself is complicit in top-level politicking, if not policy-making, any such editorial turnarounds from the Murdoch Press will not be forth-coming in the foresee-able future. But I wonder what Lachlan Murdoch thinks of the Iraq War?
