No, you are obvioulsy the idiot. Col. Alford and the 3/6 Marines soundly defeated al Qaeda in this area and these towns are still free of al Qaeda some 2.5 years on. Far from blowing his military career, Alford was noted by many senior Marine Officers at the time to be the "best battalion commander in the Marine Corps." Alford is one of the most successful and highly decorated Marine Officers in the past 20 years and he is on track to become a General. Alford has led Marines in comabt in Panama, Desert Storm, OIF I, Afgahnistan and again in Iraq with 3/6. An idiot? That seems to describe you very well, but not Alford.
