Gandhi, you're a slippery devil. You write some thought-provoking stuff, which inspires me to comment because the words are just bubbling up from my brain, but every fortnight or so you turn off comments, or change blogs, or whatever. I'll skip my ruminations on Plato's Cave, since tha's so "yesterday's blog."
As for Pervy, did it occur to you that he's the new Shah? A secular puppet in a radicalising Muslim nation that the U.S. set up with lots of military might, who oopressed his people and was driven out, soon to be in reviled exile. His heavily-armed country will slip out of control and be taken over by hostile Islamists. Mass death and war will ensue. Only now, instead of Iranian F-14s, it will be F-16s with nuclear bombs.
Will the U.S. be able to hoodwink India into invading Kashmir to divert the Pakistani military, as it did with Iraq invading Iran? Will it spiral more out of control than the last U.S. adventure? The fascists keep cooking up bigger crises to divert attention from the prior crisis. Sooner or later, they'll overshoot, and that's when the table holding the game pieces will be toppled onto the floor.
I wouldn't be too sure about the "hostile Islamists" taking over Pakaistan, Bukko. Like many other former British colonies, there is a decent amount of educated peasants in Pakistan, and anti-US anger will not necessarily translate to pro-Osama anger.
OTOH I agree there's a good chance the US will start bombing soon, especially in the Waziristan region where many civilians are already fleeing for their lives.
Kashmir invasion? To be honest, I am too tired to work it all out these days. Enough! Bush begone!
I want a sane world back again, or at least just the pleasant illusion of one.
