Arctic ice cap to disappear in 20-30 years: study
"The summer ice cover will completely vanish in 20 to 30 years but in less than that it will have considerably retreated," said Professor Peter Wadhams, head of the polar ocean physics group at Britain's prestigious Cambridge University.
"In about 10 years, the Arctic ice will be considered as open sea."

And what's going to be happening to the Antarctic ice cap? As THAT goes, up go the sea levels.
Plus, with the north polar ice disappearing in the summer, what does that do to broad oceanic current flows? So many unknowns, while the oil/coal companies and the Republicans in the U.S. and the Nationals here saying "there's no such thing as global warming." Even as they're dying from it, they'll say "This is not happening."
Ah well -- on my dash through N.Z. there was still lots of snow on the mountaintops, although it IS just October. (Fark is that a big place! It looks so small on the map next to Oz. I underestimated it; thought that four days would be enough to do an adequate drive-through. Now I've seen 3/4 of just the east side, and that's mainly through my windscreen.)
FWIW, got my Canuck work visa in the post yesterday. Regrettably, my relocation is going to happen, barring a sudden outbreak of nuclear war. I reckon Canada and New Zedland will be two of the best places to be in the coming meltdown.
