The Rule of Law Has Been Abandoned

Impressed by all these terror alerts? Think we're winning the (ahem!) "war on terror"?

Try this quick quiz:

Q. How many people have been successfully tried and convicted in relation to the 9/11 attacks?

A. Any idea? Got a guess? Well, if it's more than one, you are wrong. And it could soon be zero.

The retrial of the only man ever convicted of involvement in the September 11 attacks is now in doubt, because the United States still refuses German authorities access to a key Al Qaeda suspect.

The defence team argues that the witness's information will be ineligible in a court of law if it can be shown to have been produced by torture, and the USA wont let the witness appear in court to say whether or not he has been tortured.
