Spare Us From The Realities Of War

At a time when so-called "Reality TV" dominates the airwaves, when violent video games sell like hotcakes and the graphic violence of movies like Mel Gibson's "Passion" movie win praise as stark, confronting realism, isn't it kind of strange that nobody in the West wants to have to be confonted by the violent images of war?

Personally, I cannot stand to see such things and I dont think I need to see them to know that war is wrong. But perhaps there are people - including politicians who seem blissfully divorced from the reality of their decisions - who need to be confronted by such images.

Information Clearing House has some starkly confronting images here.

For Australian readers, Tim Dunlop has a photo of a graphic anti-Howard poster that Australian Post refused to handle here.
