The oh-so-popular Senator John McCain, who was held prisoner by the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War, today questioned the CIA's continued abuse of prisoners in Iraq (condoned by the Justice Department):
"These conventions and these rules are in place for a reason, because you get on a slippery slope and you don't know where to get off. The thing that separates us from the enemy is our respect for human rights."Well, it used to be. And if it wasn't, at least we could believe it was...
