CIA kidnapping victim Khaled el Masri has begun testifying before Madrid's high court:
Discounting reports he had been confused with an al-Qaeda suspect of the same name, he said his questioners mainly asked him about contacts in his home town Neu Ulm in Germany.

A German investigation has been told Masri was under suspicion because he visited an Islamic centre in the Bavarian town of Neu Ulm, subsequently shut down for allegedly promoting hatred of Jews and Christians, and because he had contact with other people under suspicion.
The German investigation went nowhere, despite lofty promises from Angela Merkel's incoming government. Let's see if the Spanish can do better.
