Hark Now Hear The Rodent's Cry

John Howard provides a revisionist version of history and tries to defend the indefensible:
To quote George Orwell: One has to belong to the intelligentsia to believe things like that: no ordinary man could be such a fool.
Yeah, the little bastard is actually quoting Orwell in his own defense. Now that is Orwellian!

And what about this bit:
Let me also remind people who now talk as if Iraq was some island of pro-Islamic tranquillity before 2003, that the person who probably killed more Muslims in history is Saddam Hussein.
"More"? More than whom? Surely not more than the US Coalition's 200,000 (and if you want to dispute that figure, just remember who said "we don't do body counts")?

Or does he mean "most"? In which case - Saddam? Really? Does that estimation include all those Muslims who died in the dreadful, decade-long Iran-Iraq War (in which the USA supported Saddam, BTW)? Or just the Kurds he gassed with US-supplied chemical weapons? Etiher way, it's a judgement with which a few historians would disagree.
