1972-2002 Vetoes from the USA

The Bush administration - and those who mindlessly follow their propaganda - frequently cite the ineffectiveness of the UN as a major reason why the USA "had to" act pre-emptively against Saddam.

But the US itself has been a major impediment to the effective functioning of the UN, especially in relation to solving the problems of the Middle East. The list below shows how the USA has used its power of veto in the UN over the past 30 years.
