Bush Fantasy Bubble Set To Burst

A few stats:
In the latest Gallup/CNN/USA Today poll, 54 percent of Americans surveyed said the US made a mistake in sending troops to Iraq. That number is up eight points from July. Fifty-one percent of those surveyed said the Bush Administration deliberately misled the public about the reasons for going to war. Fifty-eight percent said that, no matter how long US troops remain in Iraq, they will not be able to establish a stable, democratic government there.
And some more:
57 per cent of respondents believe the war in Iraq has made the U.S. less safe from terrorism, up 18 points since June.
It's no coincidence that this accelerated shift in public opinion comes at a time when petrol prices are tanking and the housing bubble is also set to burst.

In such an environment, and given the Bush cabal's lack of accountability on ANYTHING over the past five years, it's little wonder that Cindy Sheehan's vigil is drawing such widespread support. Bush is now using a helicopter to avoid the protestors gathered at the gates of his Crawford ranch (is that Bush avoiding Sheehan, or Rove keeping Bush bubble-wrapped?).

No wonder they are trying so hard to stop publication of more Abu Ghraib photos - that could be the final straw.

It's almost four year's since 9/11 and the FBI is warning that Al Quaeda could attempt a repeat performance. Yet once again, just as in '01, Bush is holidays, busy riding his bike, clearing scrub and ignoring reality. Maybe he's even snorting a few more lines of cocaine.

The sign of a fool is that he does not learn from his mistakes.
