Dirty Work

The neocons are beating the war drums again (he-e-e-ere's Rummy!). But will the USA invade Iran? I think a more likely scenario is a hit on Iran from Israel (prompted by who knows what alleged provocation) which would "drag" the US into a conflict. This would not only give Ariel Sharon a huge popularity boost after the public distress of the Gaza pullout, but it would also provide a convenient excuse for Bush to start moving US troops out of Iraq. Heck, it would even give an excuse for sending more troops, covering up Rummy's big tactical mistake in Iraq.

Indeed, it would take Iraq and Cindy Sheehan and PlameGate right off the front pages. Isn't that what wars are for?
