White House Bleedership

Bush picks through the debris, searching for a photo op...
"Bush demonstrated his flair for rallying the country in time of crisis with his defiant remarks atop a pile of rubble where the World Trade Center once stood. Picking his way through blasted Gulf Coast towns Friday, he aimed for a similarly rousing moment - a chance to transform the disaster into an opportunity to instill a sense of unity, and lift his flagging reputation."
... while, Condi Rice re-iterates Bush's faith-based politics:
"I don't believe for one minute that anybody allowed people to suffer because they were African-Americans. I just don't believe it."
Bush shows leadership at last, by... ordering flags lowered to half-mast. Not for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, of course, but for Supreme Court Judge William Renquist. Then, lest that seem inappropriate, Bush ordered flags lowered again for victims of Hurricane Katrina... on the next day. It's all about priorities.
