James Dobson, an influential US evangelist, has made some very intriguing comments about the Miers nomination. He claims to have secret information about the nomination though conversations with Karl Rove and the White House - is Karl Rove picking Supreme Court nominees now, as well as um... "over-seeing" the Hurrican Katrina relief effort?

On a day when George Will says Bush has "forfeited his right to be trusted as a custodian of the Constitution", here's a timely reminder of an old Bushism:
It's "the legislature's job is to write the law. It's the executive branch's job to interpret the law."
Was that another accidental slip of the tongue, a subtle attempt to usurp the role of the judiciary, or just another sign of dismal, damning ignorance?
